About this opportunity
The Gene and Dee (Carpenter) McDivitt Accounting Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen majoring in Accounting at Eastern Illinois University. The scholarship targets high-achieving students with a high school GPA equivalent to 3.5 out of 4.0 or ranking in the top ten percent of their class. Preference is given to graduates from high schools in Coles County or Shelby County, Illinois, with secondary preference to students from contiguous counties including Christian, Clark, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Macon, Montgomery, or Moultrie Counties. The scholarship emphasizes students who demonstrate leadership, public service or volunteer activities, and special talents. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor and a brief essay explaining their leadership skills, public service activities, and special talents. Financial need is not a consideration for this award. The award is announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall Semester.
