About This Opportunity

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences offers scholarships and research grants in biosciences to doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who are active and employed at a Swedish higher education institution or another public research principal. Among researchers, priority is given to those who have obtained their doctorate within the past seven years, taking into account deductible time for parental leave. The program provides funding for various purposes including project operating costs, expenses for international stays, or conference travel where own research results are presented. Research grants of 250,000 Swedish kronor and above may be awarded and disbursed to the grant administrator, with a maximum of 25 percent of the awarded grant permitted for covering overhead costs. Scholarships of up to 250,000 Swedish kronor may be awarded and paid directly to the applicant. The available funding for 2025 totals 12,870,000 Swedish kronor and includes specialized funds for research on specific topics such as Asteraceae, mosses and lichens in Sweden, zoological research, ornithology, phytogeographical surveys, botany, and travel grants for research both within Sweden and abroad.
