About This Opportunity

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences offers scholarships and research grants in geosciences to support doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers employed at Swedish higher education institutions or other public research principals. Priority is given to researchers who have obtained their doctorate within the past seven years, with consideration for parental leave and similar circumstances. The funding can be used for project operating costs, expenses for international stays, or conference travel where researchers present their own results. Research grants of 250,000 Swedish kronor and above are awarded to the grant administrator (institution) with up to 25% overhead costs permitted, while scholarships up to 250,000 Swedish kronor are paid directly to applicants. For 2025, a total of 1,772,000 Swedish kronor is available, including 400,000 Swedish kronor specifically designated for scientific natural geographic studies in Sweden, preferably in the Sarek mountain region, and 1,372,000 Swedish kronor for other geoscience purposes. Funding will not be granted for activities already completed at the time of decision, which is made approximately three months after the application deadline.
