About this opportunity
The Geoff Hogan Biology Honours Research Grant was established in 1992 at the University of Prince Edward Island as a lasting tribute to Island Naturalist and Gardener Geoffrey Gordon Hogan. The award is designed to assist Honours Biology students in carrying out their research programs. Geoffrey Gordon Hogan was born in Charlottetown on July 27, 1953, and was a keen supporter and motivator of natural history projects. He completed a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Zoology from the University of Alberta in 1976, followed by a Master's thesis on cormorant colonies from Brock University (1979), and a second Master's degree in museum studies from the University of Toronto (1985). Throughout his life, Geoff shared his extensive knowledge in natural history through publications, workshops, lectures, and field trips. In 1992, Geoff's family, friends, and students established the Geoff Hogan Honours Research Fund in his memory to support and encourage honours students in Biology.
