George Alexander Foundation Scholarship

The George Alexander Foundation Scholarship is offered annually by the Australian National University (ANU) with up to seven awards available. The scholarship supports commencing undergraduate students who must relocate from rural, regional or remote areas of Australia to undertake their degree at ANU. Funding has been provided by the George Alexander Foundation, which was established in 1972 by Mr George Alexander to provide grants for public charitable purposes in Australia, with an emphasis on supporting talented young people pursue their potential. The scholarship specifically targets students who demonstrate strong academic merit, community involvement and leadership potential. Recipients must be immediate school leavers (currently completing year 12) who will commence tertiary study in the following year. The award is valued at $24,000 total, with recipients able to choose between a 3-year option ($8,000 per annum) or a 4-year option ($6,000 per annum), paid in two instalments at the beginning of each semester. Eligible applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents who receive an offer of admission to an undergraduate program at ANU. The scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers for talented students from rural, regional and remote areas, enabling them to access higher education opportunities at one of Australia's leading universities.
