About this opportunity
The George H. Hitchings New Investigator Award in Health Research supports pre-doctoral research in the health sciences with annual awards of $5,000 to students working toward a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. The award provides flexible support for young researchers currently in their second year of graduate school who expect to follow a career path in academic teaching and research. The award should be spent for the academic enrichment of the student, including attending outside short courses, travel to scholarly meetings, purchase of a computer or books for personal use, student stipend support, or specialty reagents needed for the student's research project. No indirect costs may be charged against the grant, and the award may not be used for university tuition or general laboratory reagents. This is a one-time payment designed to deepen students' interest in research, welcoming both those relatively new to research and those who entered with research as their career destination.
