About this opportunity
The George & Sherry Elder Conservation Biology Bursary honors George Elder, an instructor at NAIT from 1968-1972 in the Biological Sciences program. He was one of the founding instructors for this program and helped create relevant and practical training focused on employment opportunities in the Renewable Resources field. During his tenure at NAIT, George worked summers in Banff where he participated in the first Grizzly Bear Management program within the park under the Canadian Wildlife Service, creating opportunities to establish field trips in cooperation with National Parks as part of the Renewable Resource Curriculum.
This bursary is available to second year students enrolled in the Biological Sciences – Conservation Biology program. The award is granted based on demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement in the first semester of the program. Students must complete an application to be considered for this award. The award amount varies and recognizes students who are continuing their studies in conservation biology while facing financial challenges.
