About this opportunity
The George Wallace Henderson Scholarship is designed to assist students undertaking studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is funded by a donation from George Wallace Henderson and provides financial support to full-time coursework or research students enrolled at the Conservatorium.
The scholarship can be awarded as either a merit or equity scholarship. For merit-based awards, students are automatically considered as part of their admission application to the Conservatorium. For equity scholarships, students can apply directly when applications are open, typically in February for Semester 1 and potentially in August for Semester 2, subject to available funding.
The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and will be stipulated in the scholarship offer letter. For coursework students, annual payments are made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. For postgraduate research students, the scholarship is paid as a stipend on a fortnightly basis.
Recipients are selected based on academic merit, personal statement, demonstrated evidence of disadvantage, and/or portfolio and performance. Postgraduate research applicants may also be evaluated on their research achievements and potential. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
