About this opportunity
George's Fund supports projects aimed at children aged 3 to 11 years old in Herefordshire. The fund was set up to remember George Price, who passed away at age five from Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a highly malignant brain tumour. The fund celebrates his short and special life and promotes the interests of Herefordshire's primary age children.
Applications are currently considered on an annual basis. The fund focuses on supporting projects that benefit children in this age group, with previous rounds funding outdoor projects that supported the emotional and physical wellbeing of children. The average grant award in 2024-25 was £3,960.
George's Fund was established by Laura Hughes, a trustee of Herefordshire Community Foundation, after her five-year-old son George suddenly became sick in August 2020 and passed away six weeks later. As Laura explains, 'If we as a family can make a small difference to another child's life then it will give us huge comfort.'
