About This Opportunity
This award competition is by invitation only for students enrolled in English 205, 206, and 207 as part of the UWM Milwaukee campus bachelor's degree program. Students are nominated by their instructor based on demonstrated professional writing skills to compete for a $500 prize. Winners are selected by a panel of judges including UWM faculty, instructors, and professional writers from various industries and media outlets. All entries are reviewed anonymously. The first-place winner receives $500 for the semester following enrollment in English 205, 206, or 207, and must be enrolled for at least one more semester to receive the scholarship. Second and third place winners are also named but receive no monetary award. All participants receive a certificate of participation and are invited to an annual ceremony held in February. The competition is held twice a year on UWM Study Days, with students completing a specific business case challenge within a two-hour time period.
