About this opportunity
The Geraldina Ortiz-Muniz Spanish Scholarship supports full-time junior and senior students majoring in Spanish at Eastern Illinois University. The scholarship is merit-based and requires recipients to maintain a 3.5 GPA both overall and in their Spanish major. Preference is given to junior recipients who can retain the award in their senior year if they continue to meet the criteria. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from faculty in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, preferably from Spanish faculty, along with a comprehensive essay detailing their coursework, activities promoting world languages and cultures, and future professional goals. In cases where applicants are equally qualified, preference is given to those with the highest financial need. The award is announced in Spring and disbursed in Fall.
