Geraldine Berrigan Memorial Scholarship

The Geraldine Berrigan Memorial Scholarship is granted to a student in the Faculty of Business who is in the second year of study, achieved an 80% overall average or greater in their first year of study at UPEI, is in financial need, and has an interest in pursuing a career in digital, technology, marketing or retail. This scholarship was created by Jennifer Maks to honour her grandmother and to give back to UPEI, both of which played pivotal roles in her life. Jennifer Maks is a UPEI alumna who graduated from the Faculty of Business in 1999, after starting the BBA program in 1996. After receiving an academic scholarship in her subsequent years at UPEI, which helped both financially and provided a confidence boost, Jennifer went on to work in Web Marketing, pursued an MBA at McGill University, and has spent 16 years at the ALDO Group where she became Senior Vice President of ALDO North America & Omnichannel. In July 2021, she was recognized as one of the top international women executives in retail by the Women in Retail Leadership Circle. The scholarship reflects Jennifer's gratitude for the support provided by her grandmother during her time at UPEI and throughout her life, and honors the turning point UPEI represented in her own career journey.
