Gerardo J. Solis Latino/Latina Scholarship

The Gerardo J. Solis Latino/Latina Scholarship supports students of Latino/Latina heritage majoring in the Sciences at Eastern Illinois University. The scholarship is awarded to full-time students who have completed a minimum of 48 semester hours of coursework at EIU and maintain a grade-point average in good standing with the university. Financial need is a consideration when selecting among suitable applicants. Recipients may be eligible to apply for and receive the award again in subsequent years provided they continue to meet the stated criteria. The award is payable in the Fall semester and supports students pursuing degree programs within the College of Sciences, including fields such as Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Psychology, and many other science-related disciplines. This scholarship recognizes the importance of supporting Latino/Latina students in STEM fields and helps address financial barriers to education. It is designed to encourage academic achievement and persistence in science majors among underrepresented students at Eastern Illinois University.
