About This Opportunity
The Gerda Henkel Foundation PhD Scholarships support highly qualified junior academics from the historical sciences with excellent academic standing and brilliant examination results who show unusual promise for their doctoral theses. Applications can be submitted at any time, independent of the candidate's nationality or place of work. Scholarship holders receive a monthly base amount of 1,920 EUR with additional benefits such as allowances for accompanying children or travel stipends if necessary. The funding is awarded over a period of up to 2 years, with possibility of extension. Research projects in archaeology, historical sciences, historical Islamic studies, history of art, history of law, prehistory and early history, and history of science are given funding priority. Income from employment and scholarship income are mutually exclusive.
