About This Opportunity

The Gil and Kay Sparks Scholarship Fund was established in 2020 to recognize Gil and Kay Sparks' long-standing involvement in the Wenatchee Valley community. Described as two highly effective and prolific community builders who made enormous contributions to civic life with great humility, they left a legacy as an example of how anyone can make a positive difference. This scholarship supports graduating seniors from Westside High School in Wenatchee or a similar non-traditional school in Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan Counties who are seeking further education in an accredited educational program in the United States. The committee seeks to award a promising student who demonstrates resiliency in response to life experiences. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Westside High School in Wenatchee, WA or a similar non-traditional school in Chelan, Douglas or Okanogan County, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, demonstrate resiliency in response to life experiences, and submit a High School and Beyond Plan or similar personal statement regarding personal history and goals. The application opens January 1st with a deadline of March 1st.
