About this opportunity
Global Governance Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to eligible graduate students who are registered full-time in their first year of the PhD Global Governance program in the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. The fellowships are valued between $25,000 and $35,000 annually and are made possible by a donation from Jim Balsillie. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, with a minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent over the last two full-time academic years.
The Fellowship is paid in equal installments at the start of each of the first three terms of the program. Continued receipt of the fellowship in subsequent terms is conditional upon continuous registration and satisfactory performance in the doctoral program. Subject to availability of funds, students may be awarded fellowships in years two through five of their programs.
Selection for year one recipients is based on the application for admission to the graduate program by the admissions committee and PhD program directorship. No separate application is required. The fellowship is open to both Canadian citizens/permanent residents and international students. The value of the Fellowship may be adjusted for students who hold external funding equivalent to or in excess of $15,000.
