About This Opportunity

The Global Grand Challenges Studentships are designed to support excellent early career researchers wishing to pursue doctoral research and training in areas aligned to a highlighted Sustainable Development Goal. This specific call is for research and researchers aligned to SDG13: Climate Action for projects that aim to address issues associated with climate change and building a more resilient global future. The studentships provide full tuition fees at both home and overseas rates, a tax-free yearly stipend matched to UKRI rates, and a Research Training Support Grant of £5,000 for the duration of the PhD programme. Five awards are available for October 2026 entry. Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary projects and supervision are particularly welcome, especially when these straddle Faculties. The studentships are intended for 3.5 years full-time study.
