Global News Scholars

The Global News Scholars award is available to first year students from historically marginalized and excluded communities enrolled in the Media Communications and Production – Television and Media Production program at NAIT. This includes Aboriginal students, Women and/or gender minorities in male-dominated programs, 2SLGBTQIA+ students, students with a prolonged or persistent disability, single-parents or children of single-parents, visible minorities or racialized people. The award is granted on the basis of a written statement detailing the applicant's personal journey to post-secondary education and satisfactory academic achievement in the most recent term. The selected recipient will receive an initial award amount plus an additional $3,500 upon successful entry into the second year of the program, for an anticipated total of $7,000. If the recipient does not return to the second year of the program, the award will be available to students from historically marginalized and excluded communities in the second year of the program. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need.
