About this opportunity
The University of St Andrews and Macquarie University offer a jointly funded scholarship to support an exceptional doctoral student undertaking research on 'Optimising the Design of Oyster Reef Restoration Projects for Biodiversity Outcomes'. This collaborative doctoral program addresses a critical knowledge gap in oyster reef restoration by investigating how interstitial spacing influences biodiversity across biogeographical regions. The project aims to inform reef restoration design to maximize ecological benefits. Students will enrol at both institutions from the outset and spend 50% of their time at each institution. The program offers comprehensive research training and support from both universities' graduate schools. The student will be jointly supervised by Dr Carmel McDougall at St Andrews and Prof. Melanie Bishop at Macquarie. This scholarship provides full tuition fee coverage and stipends from both institutions, along with travel support between the UK and Australia, for up to 3.5 years of doctoral research in marine ecology and conservation biology.
