About this opportunity
The Google PhD Fellowship is awarded to select graduate students recognized by Google researchers and their institutions as some of the most promising young academics in the world. The Fellowship supports full-time doctoral students pursuing research in fields including Computer Architecture, Algorithms and Optimization, Health Research, Human-Computer Interaction, Machine Learning, Machine Perception, Natural Language Processing, Privacy and Security, Quantum Computing, Software Engineering, and Systems and Cloud Computing. The program provides up to 2 years of funding with a total award of $85,000 USD per year, which includes a $70,000 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees and a $15,000 stipend for living expenses, travel, and personal equipment. Fellows also receive mentorship from a Google Research Mentor. Applications are evaluated based on the strength of the research proposal, research impact, student academic achievements, and leadership potential, with research proposals assessed for innovative concepts relevant to Google's research areas and alignment with Google AI Principles.
