Government Scholarships Programme Paraguay BECAL-DAAD Promotion

This is a doctoral scholarship program for Paraguayan graduates to pursue PhD studies in Germany. The program is a cooperation between the Paraguayan Government (BECAL - Programa Nacional de Becas de Posgrado en el Exterior 'Don Carlos Antonio López') and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The scholarship supports doctoral studies at German universities and, where appropriate, in conjunction with non-university research institutions. The program provides comprehensive support including language training, health insurance, living expenses, and research allowances. The DAAD covers intensive German language courses in Germany for up to six months, accommodation and allowances during the language course, and various insurance coverages (health, care, casualty, and personal liability) during the funding period. The Paraguayan Ministry of Finance covers travel costs between Paraguay and Germany, tuition fees up to 10,000 EUR, monthly living expenses of 1,300 EUR, an annual research allowance of 450 EUR, and a one-off payment of 450 EUR for the return to Paraguay. The program seeks graduates with above-average academic performance and high-quality dissertation or research projects. The maximum duration of funding is forty-eight months. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online portal of the Paraguayan Ministry of Finance (BECAL).
