About this opportunity
The North American Society for Sport History (NASSH) Graduate Research Award provides funding support to graduate students conducting research in sport history. The award is available to both Master's and Doctoral students, with doctoral students eligible for up to $2,000 (or up to $2,350 USD for inter-continental travel, or up to $3,500 for inter-continental travel such as Europe to North America), and master's students eligible for up to $1,000. Candidates are eligible for one-time funding. Funds may only be used for research expenses that occur within 18 months following official notification. Grants may not be used for travel to the NASSH conference, or to purchase equipment or software programs. Applications where the student is the sole or primary investigator on the project will be given priority. In the case of several meritorious applications, preference will be given to projects that emphasize primary source collection on location (archives or interviews). Upon completion of the research, it is expected that the findings will be presented at a NASSH Annual Convention. Successful applicants must submit all receipts to the NASSH treasurer for reimbursement. The award was previously known as the Dissertation Travel Award.
