About this opportunity
The Graduate Women Wellington - Ella C Wilson Music Award was established in memory of a bequest made by Ella C Wilson, a long-serving staff member of Napier Girls' High School who taught English and French. Ella completed a Bachelor of Music at Victoria University of Wellington before becoming a teacher, but her dreams of postgraduate study were lost when her father died suddenly when she was 24. The award supports female students at the New Zealand School of Music who are enrolled full-time in postgraduate music degrees. The scholarship is designed to assist students pursuing BMusHons, PGDip, MMus, MMA, MTherapy, PhD, or DMA degrees in any discipline at the NZSM, with preference given to Masters students. Selection is based on academic excellence, and financial hardship may be taken into consideration. Recipients are expected to demonstrate engagement and contribute to the community and environment of the New Zealand School of Music through participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or university events.
