Grants for Good

Grants for Good is a funding program designed to direct financial support to small and growing local charities, voluntary groups, or social enterprises that are making a significant impact on communities, people, or the environment. Funded by the John Good Group, the program offers unrestricted funds that can be used for any organizational costs, including core running costs. The application process is intentionally simple and accessible, particularly beneficial for organizations making their first steps into funding applications. The fund awards £60,000 annually distributed across twenty non-profit organizations through quarterly funding cycles. Every three months, £15,000 is shared between five shortlisted projects. Shortlisted organizations receive awards ranging from £2,000 to £5,000, with the final amounts determined by an employee vote at the John Good Group. The program targets organizations with innovative approaches, scalability potential, strong leadership, and clear impact. The selection process involves multiple stages: longlisting, where applications are reviewed and organizations are contacted for references and informal meetings; shortlisting, where five projects are selected; member voting, where John Good Group employees vote on their favorites; and finally, results announcement and fund transfer. Projects remain on the foundation's website following their award, and the organization conducts follow-up checks to measure long-term impact.
