About this opportunity

The Great Salt Lake Scholarship is a premier merit scholarship offered by the University of Utah for first-year, first-time students who are residents of Utah or non-residents from states other than those eligible for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Tuition Rate. The scholarship provides $3,000 per academic year ($1,500 per semester for fall and spring semesters) to help cover a portion of or all tuition and mandatory fees for students enrolled full-time. The scholarship is awarded to students with an unweighted, cumulative high school grade point average of 3.50-3.69 on a 4-point scale at the time of application to the University of Utah, who complete their admissions application by December 1, 2025. Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours) by the last day to register for full-term courses each semester to be eligible to receive their scholarship award for the term. The scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters (fall and spring), or until the student receives a baccalaureate degree (whichever comes first), as long as the student continues to meet renewal requirements. To renew the scholarship each year, students must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and complete at least twenty-four (24) credit hours during the two semesters of the academic year. The scholarship generally does not apply to summer enrollment or Learning Abroad programs. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other university non-need-based merit award from the Office of Admissions or the University Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid, except it may be combined with the For Utah Scholarship or the Utah Promise Scholarship. The scholarship is only available to students earning their degree at and who begin their enrollment at the University of Utah's main campus.
