Green ERA-Hub: biomass production and utilisation (full proposal)

This funding opportunity supports international research collaborations focused on biotechnological applications to improve the utilisation of biomass. The Green ERA-Hub (GEH) is a coordination and support action of the European Commission under the Horizon Europe framework programme that unites networks in the agri-food and biotechnology sectors. The program aims to contribute to the transformation from a fossil resources-based economy into a sustainable bio-based economy that focuses on natural and renewable material cycles while avoiding negative impacts on land use, landscapes, and ecosystems. This full proposal stage is restricted to applicants who successfully passed the pre-proposal stage and were formally invited to proceed. Applications must include UK teams and at least two eligible partners from at least two different member countries, with a minimum of three eligible partners from three different countries in total. The funding specifically supports Topic B: biotechnological applications to improve the utilisation of non-edible biomass and/or intermediates from various sources for industrial purposes in a cascade use approach. Projects should focus on researching and developing novel, innovative, and sustainable biotechnological approaches towards better utilisation of renewable biomass, intermediates, or both, including biomass from agriculture, forestry, aquaculture including residues, side streams, waste from industry, and intermediates.
