About this opportunity
The Guido, Olga, and Roland G. Dartau Scholarship honors the memory of the Dartau Family and specifically Roland Dartau, who was born in 1931 in Riga, Latvia. Roland was the son of Olga Mikhailovna Nikolaeva Dartau and Guido Georg Dartau, and lived in Latvia, Germany, Oregon, and Columbus, Ohio throughout his life. He was a member of the Columbus Latvian Evangelical Church and American Mensa.
Roland Dartau achieved a master's degree in inorganic chemistry from Oregon State University and built his professional career working at Chemical Abstracts, The Ohio State University, and Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus. This scholarship carries forward his legacy and passion for education.
The scholarship is specifically designed to support graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in Slavic and East European studies. The award provides a minimum of $500 to eligible candidates who are enrolled in the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at The Ohio State University.
