About this opportunity
The Gulf Coast Italian Culture Society, Inc (GCICS) awards a minimum of $2,000 merit scholarships every year to selected students that meet specific criteria. This scholarship is designed for meritorious high school seniors with full or partial Italian ancestry who demonstrate scholastic merit, extracurricular school activities, and community service. Applicants must submit an essay and recommendation letters as part of their application. Finalists must participate in a personal interview by selected committee members prior to the final award determination, scheduled for March 28, 2026. Successful applicants must also commit to attend the GCICS Award Luncheon Festa on April 11, 2026. The scholarship is available to students at public or private high schools in Sarasota County, those in Manatee County south of the Manatee River (including Bayshore, Central, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee, and South East), and Lemon Bay High School. Applicants must maintain a minimum overall unweighted Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50 and achieve a minimum SAT combined verbal and math score of 1200 or ACT composite score of 25.
