About this opportunity
The Hanns Seidel Foundation, affiliated with the Christian Social Union (CSU) political party, sponsors highly-qualified doctoral candidates from EU member states or with the legal status of German educational nationals. Applicants from all disciplines completing promising doctoral theses at a higher education institution in Germany are welcome to apply. The support aims at helping academics become competent and responsible citizens who uphold Christian social values and cooperate actively in forming and strengthening Germany's liberal and democratic constitutional order.
Independent of income, scholarship holders receive a monthly stipend of 1,450 EUR plus a research cost allowance of 100 EUR, along with child and family allowances if necessary. The scholarship is initially granted for 3 years and may be extended for 6 months under extraordinary circumstances.
The program includes comprehensive non-material support through seminars, events, networking meetings, and other professional development opportunities. Applicants must demonstrate above-average academic achievements, involvement in social or political activities, and personal aptitude. The foundation seeks doctoral candidates who show unusual potential for contributing to research as well as personal integrity.
