Hardship Relief and Housing Funds

National Zakat Foundation Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Hardship Relief and Housing Funds provide Zakat grants to vulnerable Muslims in the UK who struggle to afford basic living expenses. This includes essentials like food, clothing, and housing-related costs such as furniture, and rental or council tax arrears. The Hardship Relief Fund provides cash grants towards monthly expenses, such as food and clothing, which can be spent as needed. The Housing Fund provides cash grants towards housing related costs, such as rental and council tax arrears (which is paid directly to the provider), as well as furniture and moving-in costs. Applicants must be Muslim, with legal status, currently living in the UK, over the age of 18, and be entitled to receive Zakat. Due to demand and concerns for fairness, only one successful application per person per year is supported. The program offers different grant types including Hardship Basic Grant, Zakat ul Fitr (distributed during Ramadan), Furniture (Moving-in) Grant, Rental Arrears, and Council Tax Arrears.
