About this opportunity
The Harmon E Broyles Scholarship provides comprehensive financial support to high school seniors and current undergraduate students pursuing engineering degrees at Virginia Tech. Awards are designed to cover the entire Cost of Attendance (COA) including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. Award amounts are determined based on the cost of attendance as indicated by each recipient's financial aid award letter and may be adjusted mid-year if enrollment or living situations change and funds are available.
This scholarship targets students from Virginia, North Carolina, or South Carolina who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership capabilities, and community involvement. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate engineering program at Virginia Tech for the entire academic year.
The selection process evaluates candidates holistically, considering academic records, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, educational and career goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, online recommendations, and three required essays. The scholarship emphasizes supporting students who have shown commitment to leadership roles in recognized groups or teams.
