About this opportunity
The Hart-Gorrill Entrance Award is awarded to a first-year student graduating from a PEI high school who is of good character, as demonstrated through extracurricular activity, and is pursuing 10 courses (30 semester-hours) from September to May in the Faculty of Arts. This award was established by his family in honour of George Edward Hart, B.A., M.A., M.Ed., born in PEI in 1914 and whose family has been connected with the Island for 200 years. Mr. Hart was a student at Prince of Wales College (1930-1932), one of UPEI's predecessor institutions. He went on to become a teacher, broadcaster, and actor in PEI, and wrote a history of PEI. Mr. Hart served with Canada's navy in World War II and received multiple military and service medals. His family created this entrance award in his honour to support incoming students pursuing studies in the Faculty of Arts.
