About This Opportunity

The Health Sciences Rural Practicum Bursary - Fall is awarded to students enrolled in health sciences programs at Red Deer Polytechnic who are undertaking rural practicum placements. This bursary is made possible through the Ken & Bettie Ditzler Endowment and provides financial support to students who must travel significant distances for their clinical training. The award is available to students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, Practical Nurse Diploma program, or the Occupational and Physical Therapist Assistant Diploma program. To qualify, students must be placed in a rural practicum location at a distance of at least 200 kilometers round trip from Red Deer Polytechnic campus. The bursary is awarded based on financial need and aims to reduce the financial burden associated with rural placements, enabling students to complete their required clinical training. The amount varies depending on available funding and student need. Students are automatically considered for this award based on their completed General Application. The application deadline is dependent upon individual practicum dates, which students should review on the MyRDP portal.
