The Helen Bader Age & Community Internship Scholarship provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in an internship or practicum in which they are working directly with the older adult population during the Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027 semesters. This scholarship is intended for students whose internship placements have a major focus on the older adult population, with organizations that offer services and programs for older adults. The program is particularly interested in applications from students who aspire to work with the older adult population as a future career goal.
Qualifying programs include, but are not limited to: Social Work, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Care Administration, Public Health, and/or Occupational Science and Technology. Students must be working in programs that directly serve older adults and demonstrate how their duties relate to this population.
Applicants are required to provide detailed information about their internship placement, including agency information, supervisor contact details, internship hours, and a description of their duties. They must also describe the specific skills and competencies they aim to develop, explain their long-term goals related to working with older adults, and provide supporting documentation including resume and transcripts.
