About this opportunity
The Helen Solowoniuk Memorial Award in Psychiatry is awarded to resident physicians with satisfactory academic standing in the final year of psychiatry training in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. Selection is based on academic standing and expressed interest in body-centered psychotherapy, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Preference is given to resident physicians with an interest in working with patients with a history of trauma or displacement. This endowed award is funded by Mr. Bruce and Dr. Gillian Acton to support the development of psychiatry residents specializing in trauma-focused therapeutic approaches.
