About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on research in correlative data analysis in the areas of solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, and the structure and dynamics of the magnetosphere and magnetospheric substorms. Studies are possible from the accumulating data bases of Wind, Polar, Geotail, ACE, Cluster, FAST, IMAGE, IMP-8, Interball, SAMPEX, and Ulysses as well as older missions such as DE, Hawkeye, and ISEE. The CDAWeb system can be used to look at data on various time scales from current and recent SEC missions. The Space Physics Data Facility (SPDF) manages a variety of science data programs closely involved with the SEC data, and fellows will work with specific SPDF programs including the CDAWeb data access system, the Satellite Situation Center and SSCWeb system, and activities to support SEC and future missions. The fellowship is located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
