About this opportunity
The Henry Gerrie Ward Prize in Western Canadian History is awarded annually to a student who has written the best essay in any 400-level History course on a topic in Western Canadian history. This endowed prize was established by Mrs Jean Ward and family in memory of their late husband and father. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic standing and the potential to contribute to the historiography of Western Canada. In the event that two students are deemed to be of equal standing, financial need will also be taken into consideration. This prize recognizes excellence in historical scholarship focused specifically on Western Canadian topics and aims to encourage students to engage deeply with the region's history.
