About this opportunity
The Henry Havelock MacFarlane Ecology Award is presented to a third- or fourth-year undergraduate student studying marine life or ecology at the University of Prince Edward Island. The award was established by the Estate of Dr. Constance Ida MacFarlane (1904-2000) in memory of her father, Henry Havelock MacFarlane. Dr. Constance MacFarlane was an internationally recognized marine biologist who served as Director of the Seaweeds Division of the Nova Scotia Research Foundation from 1949-70 and was known worldwide for her research on the ecology and distribution of seaweeds. The award honors her legacy and her father's memory by supporting students pursuing similar research interests in marine ecology. This award is administered through the Department of Biology at UPEI and recognizes academic excellence in the field of marine and ecological studies.
