About this opportunity
The Herbert Sutcliffe Hardship Scholarships were established in 1989 when the Wellington Branch of the Herbert Sutcliffe Schools of Radiant Living donated the proceeds from the sale of its premises to Victoria University of Wellington. The endowment was created to support students in the general area of the Humanities. The deed of gift specifies that up to fifty percent of the scholarship money each year may be made available to help students in need facing financial hardship, particularly students from groups who are currently under-represented at the University. Four scholarships valued at $7,500 each are awarded annually to undergraduate students studying towards a BA, BEd, BMus, or BA (Hons) degree. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and demonstrated financial hardship. The scholarship aims to provide critical support to students experiencing financial difficulties that may affect their ability to continue their studies.
