Heysham South Wind Farm Community Fund

The Heysham South Wind Farm Community Fund supports local community groups, voluntary organisations, and environmental projects that fight poverty and enrich lives within the boundaries of the Heysham South Wind Farm. Located just inland from Morecambe Bay, this fund benefits communities in and around Heaton-with-Oxcliffe, Heysham, Middleton, and Overton in Lancashire. The fund provides grants up to £7,000 for a wide range of community initiatives including promotion of energy efficiency, environmental protection and nature conservation, supporting health and wellbeing of local people, regeneration, improvements to community facilities, education and training facilities and equipment, and social welfare activities such as events, trips, lunch clubs and food banks. Applicants do not need to be registered charities but must have charitable aims. Eligible organisations include community groups, voluntary organisations, playgroups, youth clubs, church and village halls, sports clubs, Scout and Guide Movement groups, environmental projects, clubs for senior citizens, and schools for non-statutory projects. The fund operates on a rolling basis with no specific deadlines, and decisions are typically made within 12 weeks of application submission. The fund is administered by Point North and funded by OnPath Energy, a company committed to generating power from renewable technologies such as onshore wind and solar farms. The fund does not cover advancement of religion or political activities, statutory responsibilities, retrospective funding, salaries, or projects outside the designated geographic area.
