About This Opportunity

The HFA Summer Internship Scholarship helps students participate in valuable summer internship experiences that have great potential but offer little to no compensation. This competitive program supports students pursuing high-quality internships that are likely to further their academic and professional goals or career exploration. Students do not need to have an internship offer in-hand to apply but must have submitted applications for the internship(s) they are seeking. The majority of time at the internship site should be spent on activities that enhance learning and provide substantive experience. The position must be designed so students receive ongoing feedback and guidance from their internship supervisor. Applications are evaluated based on a clear and compelling statement describing the relationship between professional goals or career exploration and the internship experience. Preference is given to unpaid internships. Prior to funding release, an official letter of offer with internship description, start and end dates, expected total hours, and supervisor contact information is required. Recipients must attend a meeting with the HFA Internship advisor and submit a final report after completion for stewardship purposes by the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and the UMass Amherst Foundation.
