Hild Bede Postgraduate Education Scholarship

Durham University Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Hild Bede Postgraduate Education Scholarship was established in 1999 by former Senior Men of the College of the Venerable Bede in memory of Gerald Collier, who was Principal of the College from 1958 to 1975. The scholarship supports students on postgraduate degrees in the School of Education at Durham University. Gerald Collier made significant contributions to teacher training and education for over half a century, and was known for modernizing educational approaches including the introduction of specialist courses in film and television. The scholarship aims to support students who demonstrate ambition and passion for education, providing financial assistance where it can make a real difference to their studies and future career development. Successful recipients will have the opportunity to contribute to College activities related to education support, such as advising undergraduates considering PGCE courses, speaking about their research at College symposia, or writing pieces for College publications. The scholarship is awarded through a competitive application process evaluated by a committee comprising representatives from both the College of St Hild & St Bede and the School of Education.
