About this opportunity

The Hill Binney Wardlaw Scholarship was established by a generous donation from Dr Lewis Whitehead in 1995 to support students of Chemistry from the Wirral in their studies at St Andrews. The scholarship forms part of the Wardlaw Scholarship scheme, established in 2004 to provide financial assistance to academically gifted students who would otherwise struggle with the cost of studying at the University of St Andrews. The award provides £4,400 per year paid as maintenance, which can be used towards University accommodation fees. Maintenance is paid in ten monthly instalments directly to the student's bank account from September to May, with a double payment in February. The scholarship is available for the full duration of the student's undergraduate programme and selection is based on financial need and donor-specific criteria. Applicants are particularly welcomed from those who have attended or are attending St Anselm's College or Upton Hall School in the Wirral.
