About this opportunity
The Hinsz Science and Mathematics Education Scholarships fund two distinct awards: the Duane E. Hinsz Scholarship in Mathematics Education and the Harvey L. Hinsz Science Education Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students enrolled at North Dakota State University who are pursuing teacher education in specific STEM fields.
One scholarship is designated for a student enrolled in Mathematics education, while the other is for a student enrolled in a natural or life science education discipline. Both recipients must be enrolled at NDSU at the time of disbursement and demonstrate a professional intent to pursue a grade 7-12 teaching career in North Dakota.
The scholarships are awarded during the academic year in which student teaching will take place. Recipients must select a North Dakota school district in which they will be student teaching and must demonstrate financial need. Students are automatically considered for these scholarships based on their completed General Application through the NDSU scholarship portal.
These awards support future educators who are committed to teaching science and mathematics at the secondary level in North Dakota schools, helping to address the need for qualified STEM teachers in the state.
