About this opportunity
Awarded to a student who intends to pursue a degree in law or a post-graduate degree that honours Justice Mark MacGuigan's commitment to social policy and/or social justice. Mark Rudolph MacGuigan was born in Charlottetown in 1931 and had a distinguished career in law, academia, and politics. He served as a professor of law at multiple institutions, was elected to the House of Commons for sixteen years, and held cabinet positions including Secretary of State for External Affairs and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. He became a judge of the Federal Court of Appeal, a position he held until his death in 1998. This scholarship honors his legacy and commitment to social justice and policy.
