Hospice Care Programme

The James Tudor Foundation's Hospice Care programme provides annual grants to independent adult and children's hospices delivering end-of-life and palliative care services in South West England and South Wales. The programme offers unrestricted funding to support hospice services including patient care, bereavement support, and training. Grants are available for up to three years and are renewable for continuation of funding. The Foundation accepts applications once a year through a single-stage process that only requires contact details and comments on the hospice's accounts. The programme provides light-touch reporting requirements and focuses on supporting independent regional hospices rather than national providers. Eligible hospices must be located in specified counties across South West England (including Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Somerset, and Wiltshire) and South Wales (including Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, and other designated areas). The Foundation typically awards grants between £10,000 and £15,000 per year, with a maximum of £25,000 per annum available. This unrestricted funding allows hospices flexibility in addressing their most pressing needs. The programme specifically excludes NHS hospices, volunteer-based palliative care provision, and charities that support hospices rather than being hospices themselves.
