Howard DeForest Widger Scholarship

The Howard DeForest Widger Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in English Language Arts who are planning to teach. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate good character, strong scholarship in English, and skill in teaching that promise service of distinction. The recipient must be registered in the four-year teaching curriculum with a major in English at the time of selection. This award is announced and paid in the Spring semester. Students are automatically considered based on completion of the General Application through Eastern Illinois University's scholarship portal.
