About This Opportunity

The Hugh Hughes Scholarship supports postgraduate research students undertaking research in veterinary science and animal production at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Science. Established in 1941 through a bequest from Hugh Hughes, this scholarship can be awarded as either a primary or supplementary scholarship for students pursuing a Masters by Research or PhD in veterinary science and animal production. As a primary scholarship, it provides an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) rate for up to 1.75 years for Masters students or up to 3.5 years for PhD recipients. If awarded as a supplementary scholarship to current scholarship holders, it provides $10,000 per annum for the same durations. The scholarship follows the Research Training Program application process and requires applicants to have applied and been considered for an RTP Stipend Scholarship. Selection is based on academic merit, area of study, and research proposal, with nominations made by the delegated authority in the School of Veterinary Science.
