Humboldt Research Fellowships for Postdoctoral Researchers

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Humboldt Research Fellowship program supports highly qualified scientists and scholars from abroad who are just embarking on their academic careers and have completed their doctorates less than 4 years ago. The fellowship gives international candidates from all disciplines the opportunity to realize a long-term research project of 6 to 24 months of their own design in cooperation with an academic host of their choice at a research institution in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their host in Germany, allowing for significant flexibility in research direction. The research is carried out in cooperation with academic hosts at research institutions throughout Germany. Scientists and scholars from all disciplines and countries may apply, with the exception of Brazil. The program awards approximately 450 fellowships each year for both postdoctoral and experienced researchers. Fellows receive 2,700 EUR per month along with extensive additional benefits including mobility allowance, medical insurance subsidy, travel expenses, language courses, family allowances, and research cost allowances. The fellowship provides comprehensive support for international researchers to establish themselves in the German research community and develop their academic careers.
