About this opportunity

The IDEA Photography Equity Scholarship is designed to support students enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Photography at RMIT University who can demonstrate circumstances which impact their study. The scholarship provides financial assistance up to $7,500 per annum for up to three years, totaling a maximum of $22,500. This scholarship was established by the Imaging and Digital Entertainment Association (IDEA), the Australian industry body supporting photography for over 40 years, which ended in 2022 and created these scholarships to continue its legacy in support of photography students. The scholarship aims to assist students experiencing various circumstances including those receiving low income benefits or holding a Centrelink Health Care Card, living with a disability or long-term medical condition, experiencing personal or family difficulties, students from interstate or rural/regional areas relocating to Melbourne, those who have lived in foster/kinship care, and students from under-represented backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, refugees, and students from non-English speaking backgrounds. Eligible applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, or permanent humanitarian visa holders commencing full-time study in semester 1 2026 in their first year of the Bachelor of Photography program at RMIT University.
